The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Income Tax (IT) conducted raids in Srinagar and Kupwara on Wednesday, official sources said this afternoon.
They said security forces and police sealed particular areas in Dalgate, Wazirbagh and Soura in the city this morning at 0630 hrs.
Later sleuths of NIA and IT raided a hotel “ Pine Spring” at Gogji Bagh Wazirbagh and Dalgate.
They thoroughly checked financial records and other documents of these hotels, owned by a relative of a senior politicians.
Sources said similar raids were conducted at a B.ed college at Soura in the city outskirts.
Sources said ACB and IT raided several offices in Kupwara in connection with fraud of crores of rupees under Saubhagya Scheme.
They said Rs 30 crore each has been sanctioned under the scheme in Machil, Manigam and Lalpora in Kupwara. However, the officials and engineers draw bills without doing any work on the field. These officials had allegedly used pictures of old wooden electric poles and wire to draw bills, they said.
